Puerto Rico is kind of like a pineapple pizza ' a little bit exotic and a whole lot familiar. Puerto Rico is a perfect choice for a destination wedding or honeymoon. The island is not only beautiful, lush and green and ringed with beautiful beaches, it's also steeped in history. Perhaps best of all ' especially if you're inviting a party of wedding guests ' travelers from the U.S. will not need a passport to visit Puerto Rico, unlike many other islands in the Caribbean. There are other factors that lead to stress-free travel on Puerto Rico: the currency is the U.S. dollar, English is widely spoken and driving is on the right, making it easy to take off for a romantic drive to explore the island.

Puerto Rico is 100 miles long and 35 miles wide. If you're feeling cosmopolitan, the seaside capital city of San Juan is where you'll want to be. In San Juan, you'll find the widest selection of shopping, gaming and nightlife, the swankiest hotels and the beguiling district of Old San Juan, with its winding cobblestone streets and historic buildings

There are wonderful resorts throughout the island, and natural pleasures abound. Puerto Rico has 300 beaches, awe-inspiring rainforests, waterfalls and caves. For a bit of magic, book a trip on one of the island's bio-luminescent lagoons. There are also two major islands to broaden your choices - Vieques and Culebra - each with its own special vibe.

You'll be in good company when you choose Puerto Rico for your wedding. Country singer Shania Twain, actress Ana Ortiz and Jesse Williams of Grey's Anatomy all chose to get married on the island.

If you want to add a truly Puerto Rican touch to your wedding, give your guests ribbons capias. The ribbons are imprinted with the names of the bride and groom and are a well-loved island tradition.
