Spiritual Enrichment. Sedona was a quaint ranching community until 30 years ago. At that time, Psychic Page Bryant declared that several “vortexes” existed in the hills surrounding Sedona. These vortexes are sites that are believe to release psychic power from the earth. The four locations she designated are Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Boynton Canyon, and Table Top Mountain. Ever since her revelations, Sedona has attracted visitors seeking spiritual enrichment.

Art. After surrealist painter Max Ernst settled in Sedona in 1950, many other famous artists followed. Sedona is bursting with upscale art galleries, crystal shops, and Southwestern souvenir and craft centers. The town's shopping and art showplace is Tlaquepaque, and includes an assortment of galleries and shops, as well as the location of a spectacular annual light display during December.
